
The First Sale is The Most Important
The most important sale in any business (“the first sale”) will be the most lucrative and impactful sale of the entire organization.
The first sale is always made to YOU! If you are not completely and totally sold on you, your product, your service, your organization, your staff, then you have very little chance of pushing through the competition and the noise of your market. The marketplace rarely rewards success to those organizations that aren’t always in the pursuit of being the very best and knowing that they are. This sale is an ongoing sale each day. As our marketplace changes continually, so must the products, services, and approach change, meaning we must continue to sell ourselves new each day. As New York Times Best Selling Author explains in his book “Sell or Be Sold”, “The biggest sale you make to yourself every day is the sale you make to yourself.”
You must, in your soul, believe that any customer doing business with anyone other than you is doing so to their own detriment. Sure, there are lots of wonderful dentists, real estate agents, wine makers, restaurants, etc., and they are likely very talented, but they are not YOU. You need to be so convicted of your offering that you must INSIST that everyone you talk to uses your product or service because allowing them to use any other would be insincere.
